RE: RE: RE: SG/B2B/B&B/ENHM/Monkees/Paul/Rock VS

Stones : Some Girls & Englands's Newest Hit Makers. Easy calls for me.

Monkees: I voted for Peter Tork. He's a capable musician with a folkie background, although he seldom got to express his preferred musical sytle within the group. Nesmith got more recognition as a songwriter, producer, and the one who pushed for artistic control. Dolenz had a great pop voice and sang lead on most of their hits. Nuff said. And Davy Jones with his earlier Broadway and musical comedy background is perhaps the opposite of Tork, since everything he did best was showcased front and center in the Monkees.

"Unlucky in love song": Voted fro Desperado. Great melody, harmony, lyrics, dynamics.

Best song about Paul: I never quite got why John not liking Paul's songs at the time should have caused him (Paul) to have a guilty conscience and thereby be losing sleep. "How Do You Sleep" leaves me cold, perhaps my least favorite Lennon song. I voted for "Back Off Boogaloo", clearly a dig at Paul but in a less personal and more lighthearted manner.
