I was writing off the top of my head when I noted that the bass guitar was invented in the 1950s, and I was in error. I just looked it up, and yes, it was invented in 1935, but for the most part, never used by anyone, not until rockers started to use it and as I noted, by the late 1950s all rockers used it, so it was still long before McCartney was famous, but then again, Paul as a teen was playing live in the late '50s too, he just didn't start it, and yes, loud rock music was why it caught on, too.
