BJ,MT,RW/BB/Stevie Wonder/VS/Fabs

Tonight we enter week 896 of the Stones poll, and as usual, we will run 2 different Stones poll questions. For our first Stones poll, the new question will be this: Which Stones' era was the best: The Brian Jones years, the Mick Taylor years, or the Ron Wood years?

You would think a simple question like this one would have been asked years ago, but no, it never has been. Of course the Jones era was the first, with the original band, from early 1962, to June of ’69. Then the Taylor years were next, but MT’s time lasted the shortest, only till 1974, and then the Ron Wood era would start in the next year and is still going strong today. You all know what took place during these times, so no need for me to explain anything, but which of the 3 were the best Stones era for you?

To cast your vote in this first Stones poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

The week's second Stones poll will ask this: Beggars Banquet vs The Rolling Stones, Now!, which album do you like the best?

vs

The Banquet for Beggars Polls returns this week, featuring the Stones great 1968 LP Beggars Banquet, going up this time against 1965’s The Rolling Stones, Now!. For BB in our Stones’ album vs album series, a winning record, at 6-3, but that is only good for a 8th place tie in the standings. RSN on the other hand, an LP not looked at as being in the same league as BB, is faring better in these matchups with a record of 4-1, good for third place, but the LP has been voted on the least out of all the Stones albums in this series, too.

To see the song list for each album, for Beggars Banquet, go here: BB, and for The Rolling Stones Now, go here: RSN.

To cast your vote in this second Stones poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

Looking back at last week’s first Stones poll we asked: 'Cosmic Christmas' vs 'Key to the Highway', which of the only 2 hidden tracks released on a Stones LP, is better?.

As what is starting to be a normal thing, we had either near or record amounts of votes in all of our 5 weekly polls last week, and at the Stones 2 polls we saw near records in both for the third week in a row. In the first poll, the final results weren’t too close at all.

To see which hidden track fans like best, go here: Stones Weekly Poll - week 895 poll 1.You can also check out the final results at the Stones Stones VS Page 2

Last week at the Stones VS poll, we asked: Let It Bleed vs Bridges To Babylon, which album do you like the best?

vs

You might recall me writing in the poll post last week that we missed setting the record for most votes in a Stones poll by just 2 votes. You might also recall me noting a few weeks back that maybe I should have a “get out the vote week” at the Stones poll, so this poll could finally go over the 700 vote mark, since it’s the only weekly poll that hasn’t yet (other than the second Rock VS poll). Well, last week in this second Stones poll, it not only didn’t we see 700 votes, but this time we missed the record high vote count by just one single vote! Yes, exactly one more person voted last week in this second Stones poll than did in the week before when we missed the record by 2 votes. We just can’t seem to get over the hump in this poll voting wise even when we have a great turnout. So, let get out the vote this week and see if we can finally hit the 700 mark, or at least see 689 votes, to set a new record. How do we get the vote out? Well, I never really thought how we would go about it, but since so few who read this poll post, actually vote, let’s start with them, or should I say - you! You read this post every week, but you never vote, or maybe you just vote in the Rock poll and skip the Stones poll? Regardless why you don’t vote every week in this poll, can you please help us get past 700 votes this week and cast your vote?.... Well, that’s one way to get more votes, just ask! Another way is, you got a mate, or other family members, or even friends that you live with. Well they like the Stones, right, so why not get them to vote, too?

Anyway, getting to the results from last week’s album VS poll, Let It Bleed won in what ties the record for the biggest landslide win in this series when not counting wins against the LP Dirty Work. That is a big deal since DW loses in landslides every time it goes up against another LP, but outside of that album, we don’t see too many landslide wins against the other albums, especially not with wins of 90% or higher, like what took place last week. You can check out just how huge the final landslide was by clicking here:Stones Weekly Poll - week 895, poll 2. I’ll also add the results from this poll to the standings at the Stones VS Page 1, where at the top of the page you can check out the updated standings on how each album has done in these long running VS polls.

At the Classic Rock Poll, we enter week 536, and as usual we’ll vote in 2 polls in this one too. The first question this week is: What is your favorite song by Stevie Wonder?

Stevie Wonder is one true superstar, and he’s been big since he was an 11 year old child prodigy, back when he was known as “Little Stevie Wonder”, with his first number 1 hit coming at age 12 with “Fingertips – Part 1 & 2”. This blind performer, who can play most instruments, is often on his records the only musician, playing all of the instruments himself. Perhaps best known as a piano and harp player, he has recorded more than 30 U.S. top ten hits, and won 25 Grammy Awards, the most ever awarded to a male solo artist, and he has sold over 100 million records worldwide, too.

When you look over the 36 songs listed in our poll and try to decide which one to vote for, you will realize that might not be too easy to do since so many of them are such great songs.

To vote in this poll and see the songs that are listed, go here: Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

For this week’s Rock VS poll, it’s the 4th week of “The full of Soul, polls”, and the question is: R&B/Soul/Motown vs Classic Rock, which music genre do you like more?.

R&B/Soul/Motown had been beating up every genre it has gone up against so far in our full of Soul poll series, but this week, well it will be matched up against the music that our Rock polls are exactly about, so for sure this will be R&B/Soul/Motown’s biggest challenge yet.

Which subgenre do you dig more? To vote in this VS poll, just click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll, we asked: What is your favorite song by solo Paul Simon?.

Although places 2 thru 11 saw very close voting between those songs, as did really the rest of the remaining songs listed, first place won by a nice margin of votes, and that favorite song picked was “Mother And Child Reunion”, off of his second solo album, but the first solo album released after he left Garfunkel. Second place went to “Kodachrome”, and third place to “Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard”… I’ll add, 775 votes were cast in this poll last week, not a record, but 4th best, as the Rock Poll had seen over 800 votes cast 3 different times.

You can check out the full, final results from this Rock poll by clicking here: Classic Rock Poll 1, week 535. You can also check out the final results at the Top Ten Lists, Page, 13.

In last week’s Rock VS poll, we asked: R&B/Soul/Motown vs Hip-Hop/Rap, which music genre do you like more?

At this VS poll last week we did see a record vote count for the third week in a row, missing the 700 mark by just 9 votes, so let’s get out the vote for this one this week, too!

Results wise…. Just like in the first 2 weeks before with this Soul poll, we saw a landslide result for the host genre. To see the final results from this VS Rock poll, click here: Classic Rock VS Poll, week 535. You can also check out the final results at the VS results page 2, at the Classic Rock site, just click on: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

We close out this poll post as usual with the Beatles poll, where it’s week 289, and this week’s brand new question is: 'I Am the Walrus' vs 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds', which psychedelic Lennon written Beatle song is better?

Now the question doesn’t mean just the better psychedelic song, but the best song overall. Both songs were released in 1967, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” on the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and then later on in the same year, “I Am the Walrus” was released on the Magical Mystery Tour LP and movie. Both songs are very far out, and Lennon wrote “I Am the Walrus” to try to outdo himself after his “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” got so many people asking questions about exactly what that song was about, so he wrote the Walrus song to confuse fans even more, even if more of what he wrote in IATW compared to LSD, did have a deeper meaning to it. Too bad it would take too much time to explain it all here, but so many of you know the answer anyway. But in a nutshell, saying “I am the walrus” was meant to mean “I am the good guy”, until Lennon realized that in the Lewis Carrol story where he borrowed the walrus from, the walrus is actually the bad guy!

To vote in this week’s Beatles poll, please go here: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week's Beatles poll we answered this question: What was the best Beatle song that featured just one Beatle on the recording?

Just as we saw at the VS poll last week, we set a new record for total votes at this poll last week, too, and for only the second time, the Beatles poll saw over 700 votes in one week. This one saw very close voting in it, and in the end, 'Yesterday' – with Paul alone on vocals and acoustic guitar, took first place by a handful of votes.

To see the full, final results, please go here: Beatles Weekly Poll – week 288. Or, you can check out the poll’s winner at this Beatles list page, just click on ‘miscellaneous list page’, which is located at the domain’s Lennon Site.

Well fall is officially here and the colors are out and at their peak where I live right now, with some snow to go with it all. It was a crazy week here weather wise for sure. How’s it at your place?... As usual, thanks to all of you for voting once again in record numbers last week, and please do remember to vote this week! Do have a safe and happy upcoming week!
