RE: RE: RE: my picks

First Stones Poll: Cool cool hand pretty much said what I was about to say about the different eras, all 3 were great for different reasons. The BJ years started it all and had all of the early, great hits that got them going and noticed, and that era made them special and stand out, and be different than any other rock band of the time.... In the MT years, their best albums, and some of their best songs were made, and their best ever live shows took place, too... while with the Ronnie years they lasted the longest and was able to keep going strong, which after so many years, no other rock band has been able to maintain such a pace. The Ronnie years may not be getting as many votes in the poll, but I don't think it's a reflection so much of fans not liking this era, but more so just how great things were for the band until the mid '70s when they were at their peak. I liked the BJ years the best perhaps since that's where it all started, but I voted for the MT years since in that small amount time, they clearly put out their best music and put on their best shows.

Stones LP Poll: BB by a mile. TRSN is a good album indeed, but it pales in comparison to the last one that the original band put out.

Rock Poll 1: Manny is right, Stevie is a genius, and out of all of those great songs, "Living for the City" does stand out, you can feel the pain of black people in that song, it's one of the greatest songs written about the lack of civil rights and the saddest thing is that even today, more than 40 years after the song was written, too much that is noted in the song is still true today.

Rock VS Poll: I love soul music, and the truth is, it is a part of Classic Rock, even if the classic rock radio stations of today forget that. Back in the day, both sub-genres were played together on the radio, and they still sound great together today even if radio station PDs have forgotten that. With that said, I voted for Classic Rock.

Beatles Poll: Both songs are masterpieces, but "I Am the Walrus" is the better of the 2, even if (I believe) that "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" is more loved by Beatle fans. If nothing more, IATW is better written and has a better story attached to it. John in reality was a great guy and wasn't really the walrus, but as he said in regard to the story he took the walrus from, it won't had sounded good singing "I am the carpenter" in the song. No, it might have made sense in regard to the story he took it from, but not the song.
