Speaking of Tapes found for a quarter at thrift shops, did ya'll hear about the copy of Michael Jacksons' BAD purchased by a couple at a Thrift shop? They were showing it to their child and trying to explain what a cassette was. Upon doing so they opened up the enclosed booklet and noticed some scribble. Appears to be Michaels autograph!! Last I read, they were in the process of having it authenticated.
I have a slew of cassettes. Not too many prerecorded ones though. But when I first started Bootlegging, Cassette was the only medium. I have a huge amount of Cassette players/recorders too. I keep finding them. I'm not exaggerating, I bet I have 30+ top end models. Only paid for three of them. the rest were rescued. Good thing I aint into horses!!
I also have old school DAT systems, Multi track recorders, Reel to Reel, Beta and VHS and Laser Disc. My final goal is to be able to able to transfer any old format to any current format. I guess my next step is to upgrade my desk top. There is mad editing accomplishments to be had.
I dated a girl who had one of the first cell bag phones. Remember those? 5 watts of power!! and totally hackable. One could listen in easy with the right radio scanner. Oh the stories I could tell about the shit I used to do back from mid 80's to y2k with a scanner. Keep in mind folks, if it's wireless (and today, it pretty much all is) somebody can listen or read if they want.
