RE: RE: OOOH/LIB/BTB/12x5/Anti

My picks:

Stones 1: OOOH by a mile!

Stones 2: LIB also by a mile.

Rock 1: It took me a couple of days to decided on this one, as there are a several real good songs listed. Neil Young's "Needle and the Damage Done" (excellent, but too short a song), along with Paul Simon's "Everything Put Together Falls Apart" (a song that is very much to the point, indeed) were 2 I could have voted for, while Wings' "Medicine Jar" sends the very same message (lyrics wise) as the Simon song sends. Billy Joel's "Captain Jack" is also another excellent one on the list, but not as much to the point as far as the anti-drug part goes. So I ended up going with John Prine's "Sam Stone" in the end, as it explains why heroin and being a junkie is such a bad thing, without flat out saying that in those direct words. It also contains one of the greatest, yet simple one-line lyrics ever written in a song "There's a hole in daddy's arm, where all the money goes".

Rock 2: CDs, mainly for the convenience when playing a CD. I always hated having to turn over the vinyl record for side 2, so for me that's the best thing as far as placing CDs ahead of vinyl records. Sound wise, I can't hear any difference at all, just no cracking sound when you play a CD.

Beatles: "Maggie Mae" was an easy pick for me, although I still dig it along with "Dig It", which would had been my second choice. The only problem with "Dig It" was how it was totally edited and ruined in that process, the actual long version of this jam is excellent indeed. IMO, the only mistake Phil Spector made when he took over and saved the album for the band... well, that, and he should have kept "Don't Let Me Down" on the album, too.
