Here are my picks for this week's polls:
Stones 1: OOOH by a few light years. I've never been a big fan of B2B.
Stones 2: SG, also by a few light years, as I never was a big fan of BNB either. What a difference 2 years made for this band in the late '70s!
Rock 1: A tossup with Keith Relf and Chris Dreja. I ended up going with Dreja, since while in the Yardbirds Relf mainly stuck to singing the vocals and playing harp, and he rarely ever played guitar. Once he left the band, he started to play all of those other instruments and was Renaissance's only guitar player in the first few years of that band. Now if Relf only mainly sang in the Yardbirds because the others didn't want him playing any instruments, then I would have picked him, but from what I understand, he wanted to be the frontman and only play harp.
Rock 2: The Rod Stewart cover. I was always a fan of the former Cat, and he was a great songwriter and singer, no question, but Stewart's cover, along with Sheryl Crow's cover years later of this one, are both better versions. Nobody will ever beat his versions of his songs like "Wild World", "Peace Train", or 'Father and Son", etc, but with this first song that he wrote, others have.
Beatles Poll: Had to go with the George Harrison song again for this LP. But no question, "Blue Jay Way" is a good song, and it's just the one on the album that I liked the least over the rest.
