...Really, what is in the air tonight? I can't believe you posted tonight of all nights and that I came here and just read the board and your posts! One thing about me, is that it's very rare for me to visit and read the board on a Saturday, and especially on a Saturday night! Saturday is the one day of the week where I make sure to take the day off from work (and Gasland is work to me)... even now that I'm 90% retired from my other work, I still make sure I take off Saturdays from here. Plus I hadn't looked at Gasx3 in 3 days as it was, I just needed a break, I'm still feeling a bit down after the loss of my young friend, Troy, whom I've know since the day he was born, and when I'm feeling down, I usually don't come here.
I remembered years ago when Saturday night meant going out and partying; hell, I never, ever sat at home on a Saturday night when I was a kid, and even as an adult, up until the last couple of years, I would spend my entire Saturdays at the local hot springs with friends, yet now I rarely ever get to go there anymore.
But the reason I can't believe you posted tonight, was because earlier tonight I was going through the old bookshelf in the living room and came upon this old, tiny, hardcover book about John Lennon, that was lost in the back of the book shelf because it really is tiny, only 2 1/2 by 3" in size. I never had a tiny book like this one until Jimmy Whitley sent this hardcover to me as a gift 15 years ago! Inside Jimmy wrote to me this in black magic marker: "To Keno.... I hope 2001 is better for you than the last few you had (spider bites, mud slides, etc.) Love, Jimmy Whitley" ... followed by a smiley face he drew after his name. Ironically, this book about Lennon has the title right there on the page next to Jimmy's note, and it reads "He Died Too Young". All I could think after seeing that was, yeah, just like Jimmy, just like Troy.... Then I placed the book in a better spot, where it won't get lost behind another book again. Sat down and thought about Jimmy for a bit more and of course, that got me to think of you, too. I thought to myself, wonder when Syph will show up again at Gasland, since you are like a few other old time Gassers who we only get to see here every so often, like every 2 or 3 years.
Anyway, that was about 3 hours ago, and tonight it's been very quite at the house, with the daughter, son-in-law, and dog, all away till tomorrow, and the same deal with the grandson, who's staying at his friend's house overnight. So just me and the old cat here tonight, so I just headed over to the computer and did what I don't normally do on a Saturday night, and took a look at the Land of Gas... and the first thing I notice is a few posts by Syph! Yep, something in the air for sure tonight, but at least it's something good, and it's great to hear from you again dude, do hang around for a bit!
