RE: RE: RE: RE: Port Townsend WA nsc

For the last 2 years I've been that way thanks to my health issues, just not really traveling anywhere and just staying home and doing things around the house - and being that way has been driving me nuts! I finally decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and force myself to get out more and do more things like I always used to do (well, my kids have also been talking me into being that way again, too). I may not be able to do most things away from the house the way I used to, but even if I can't do things in the exact same way as in the past, I can still do them, and that's better than living under house arrest (since that's how it's felt). I also decided to have that finial surgery I need, no matter how terrible the recovery might be again. I just need to find a new surgeon who I can trust, and perhaps the recovery will be easier after the next round is over with (and maybe my problems will actually be solved this time, too).... My sister back in NY is trying to talk me into going back there for the surgery, since for the kind of surgeon I need to do the job, well they got the best ones in the U.S. in the NYC area hospitals. I believe that, but having to go way back there for this just doesn't seem to make total sense; I haven't lived in NY since '76, and haven't spent more than a week there since I moved away, other than perhaps in '77 when the wife and I spent a couple of months there (since she had never been to NY before and was enjoying herself and wanted to stay a bit longer... gosh, '77 was one crazy year for me, I seemed to live everywhere in that one year!). But I rather recover from surgery in my own home, who won't?... So I don't think I'll take my sister up on her offer to go back there and stay at her place for this. But it's cool that she offered me the option.

Anyway, I was just suggesting a one day visit to Port Townsend for you, since you live close enough to it. It's worth checking out, it isn't like your normal U.S. town, even if the town has changed a lot in the last 40 years. But you got to do what you feel comfortable in doing, and I don't mean to be coming off as telling you what to do. I myself would like to see it again one more time, but chances are I never will, since I have no other reason to be anywhere near that coroner of the U.S. again.

Oh, and what I noted in my last reply about the town and the old building I stayed at looking empty today, what I was looking at wasn't a current Google view. I misread what I was looking at, but late last nite, I did take a Google street tour of the area, and funny the town still looks a lot like how I remember it, other than the old Town Tavern! There was a bad fire there several years ago and it had to be rebuilt, and today the building looks the same on the outside, other than not looking real old anymore; it looks very clean and almost modern, but still in a old way. I guess the upstairs is a hotel again, and in what I could see where the bar was on the building's corner, is today another business, it don't look like a bar anymore. That's sad to know since it was the community's gathering place to go to talk and meet people, and the people there in '77 were just so damn cool. But like you noted, in 40 years time, places are going to change, although it still looks like they got some old hippies living there!
