RE: RE: RE: The very old days!

I shorted myself on length of time here, it's 17 1/2 years(January 1999.)

I was thinking you were here in the first week, but you were here within what was really the first 4 weeks that we were up, so you're still an original Gassers as far as I'm concerned! You missed being here in the very beginning by just 4 weeks or so, as the first week in December of 1998 was when we first started up. Ms Peachfeather was here if I recall, and so was 2000 Man, StonesProfessor, steel wls, Starbuck, Fleabit Peanut Monkey, and a few others who are still around today, but it's hard to remember everybody from the very beginning who are still around and a few who showed up in the second year or so who also are still around... Manny, were you here in the first month, I think you were??

By the second day Gasland was up, the joint was busy, since I emailed several friends from the old and already closed StonesWorld board (it had closed about 6 months earlier), and others from the Stones newsgroup about the new Gas board, and by the second week of Gasland, we were as busy as the old StonesWorld board used to be. But because the domain was up on Earthlink back then, and it was 1998, keno.og was told to find a new server/host, since back in those days Earthlink didn't allow Web boards on their servers yet. So about 3 weeks into the new Gasland board, I had to temporary close it down and just put up a notice telling everybody to just sit tight until I found a new host server, and in the first week of 1999, Gasland and keno.org found a new host and the Land of Gas was back up - and up for good! But when I started Gasland in '98, there were no other Stones boards up on the Net, just the newsgroup, which wasn't (and still isn't) considered a part of the Net.

Around September of '99, I was working with my late friend Gerry (another early Gasser and refugee from StonesWorld), on starting up a new Stones board, we were going to run it together... But then we decided to do 2 separate boards and domains; she would run a board and website dedicated to Brian Jones, and I would run one for the Stones. She ended up starting up Like a Rolling Stone in the same week Gasland started, and yes, we planned it that way. About 6 months later, another Gasser and close friend of mine from Denver, Jaxx, along with another Gasser, Gazza, started Rocks Off along with Voodoo Chile, and then in the next year (or was it in '02?), Stonesdoug got his board up and running, and all these other boards became busy and it stayed that way until Facebook (and later Twitter) started to change things and in time killed off most web-boards. But the Stones boards hung in there anyway. The LARS board is still up today, but for the most part it died shortly after Gerry passed away. But yes, us long time Gassers are dinosaurs, for sure!
