Well it IS a biography, and biographies are supposed to be about a person's life. I don't know what Trynka's background is, but I do know that he's written at least two prior rock biographies, namely David Bowie and Iggy Pop, and that both books have been well received.
IMO the best thing about Trynka's book is its extensive exploration of Brian's "formative" years, his childhood in a repressed, loveless home, which probably goes a long way towards explaining the difficulties he later had as an adult, including in his relations with his bandmates. I think it's a well-balanced portrait overall, pretty far removed from the cartoonish villain portrait sometimes painted by Keith.
