Man Stripped brings me back to the whole unplugged nineties thing, I like the originals so much better. It's like self consciously rootsy. I know it's not on here, but it's like how they self consciously slowed down I Just Want To Make Love To You in 1990 to make it more "authentically" black. I liked it when it was speedy and English. In other words they gave it there own sound. They sound likey they are "trying" to be folksy or bluesy. There was a time they didn't have to try. Howard's sold out from his early days on WWOR. He used to be all about his wife and how he'd never do a Hollywood divorce and mary a younger woman? Well now he's so toned down he hosts AGT! Yeah Stripped is the kind of faux LP he would like. While the superb Aftermath would blow past him. He would think it's an oldie.
That said he can be a great interviewer, if not as good as the old days.
But let's say Stern in his early nineties prime
Could you imagine outspoken circa late 1966 Brian on Stern!
Or how about Keith, Ron, and Mick circa 1978 SNL at their cocaine abuse peak all talking a mile a minute
How about Bill in the days mid 80's where he talked about the 1000 girls he slept with kept filed on his computer A-Z all while dating a 13 year old!
He even got Brian Wilson back in 1989 to talk about Charles Manson "He douced my hairdresser".
