Revere hailed from my town of Boise, and The Raiders with Mark Lindsay as vocalist began here. The two met up at a gas station and talked about quitting their jobs and starting a band together the rest is history. He kept a residence here for decades until about 4 or 5 years ago. It was a unique Mediterranean structure with thick walls and small windows built on a hillside. Revere had steps going down to the swimming pool designed to resemble alternating black and white piano keys. Sadly, the new owner of the house had it demolished in order to build a more modern structure. I saw them play once around 15 years ago in Oregon, after Lindsay and the classic lineup had departed. A great show as I recall.
Wow, you got to see Arthur Lee and Love. What was that like? They didn't play many live dates outside the L.A. area. The guy was a supremely gifted musician, but eccentric to the max. Love's first 3 albums are classics, particularly "Forever Changes" which was a commercial flop due to lack of promotion and Lee's refusal to tour. The band fell on hard times, then fell apart, after which a couple of them wound up serving time for going on a crime spree holding up donut shops. "Forever Changes" eventually got discovered and is considered by many (myself included0 to be a lost masterpiece of the era.
