You hit the nail on the head my friend!

Giving things away for free leads to other things you will sell because of it - selling big time. My old marketing firm once a year put out a free coupon book for this radio station promo. It had stuff like free oil changes, free dinners (and not buy one get one free, but 100% free) free haircuts, free hot spring visits, etc, and each year 90% of the business would resign up and offer the stuff again. I got rich selling that coupon book and it worked not only for me but everybody involved. Giving away this album is going to work for U2 in the same way - as long as the songs are good, that is.
