This week's polls!

Guess I have to issue an apology again here at the start, as the polls got off to over a 2 and a half hour late start tonight thanks to my continued problems with my recovery from my surgery weeks ago. You’re going to see a lot of repeats in this post from the week before as its cut and paste time, if I don’t do this, there won’t be a poll post tonight.

At least this week we will return to running all 4 weekly polls again. We start off as usual with the Stones poll first, where it’s week 780 and we’re continue running this series of questions in regard to the Stones album art work: Rate the artwork for the front cover of The Rolling Stones, Now!

This is the last of the studio LPs for us to rate in this matter (but we still got a bunch of other non-studio LPs to rate, too). Released in the US in 1965, its front cover is a bunch of different shots of the different band members.

To vote in this week’s Stones’ poll, just click here: Stones Weekly Poll.

In the last week’s Stones poll asked: Rate the artwork for the front cover of Undercover . Average results came from last week’s voting…. “7” was the top pick at 20%, followed by “6” at 19.2%, and “8” picking up 19%.

See the full, final results by clicking on this link: Stones Weekly Poll - week 779 – poll results.

Now to the Classic Rock Poll, where it’s week 422 and we return to the usual 2 poll questions a week!. Here is the first question: What is the best Rock song which has 'Devil' in its title? Turns out if I had looked in my poll file 2 weeks ago a bit closer, I would have noticed that I had 2 questions ready to go and could have used one of them last week; I forgot about these polls I puts together about a year ago and never used (the other one we’re run next week looks at “God” in its title).

This is a simple question, just pick the song listed you dig the most. To vote in this week’s first rock poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

Our VS Rock poll asks this: ‘Social Disease' (original by Elton John) vs 'Might As Well Get Juiced' (original by The Stones), which song is best? We look at 2 deep tracks about drinking too much. The Elton John song came out on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in 1973 and was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. It starts out with a wonderful banjo that gives it a country rock feel, but by mid-point the horns change that feeling into almost a jazz like grove.

The Stones song was known for not being the normal Stones music us fans are used to hearing, produced by the Dust brothers (and Keith didn’t care for this at all) it contains sampling and music that sounds very techno - well, electronic music stuff is what it is, while Mick sings in a strained sounding voice. Many Stones fans hated this song when it was released in 1997, while a few claimed it was the best song on Bridges to Babylon. Of course, it’ was written by the Glimmers.

As usual there are videos to the songs in the voting booths, just remember, only vote on the songs and not on the videos. To make your pick for this week’s VS poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s Rock poll we only ran one question, which was: 'Can't You See' (original by The Marshall Tucker Band) vs 'Tuesday's Gone' (original by Lynyrd Skynyrd), which song is best? A very close final vote on this one, but as usual, the song I voted for didn’t end up on top.

To view the full, final results from this poll, click on the following link: Classic Rock Poll week 421. You can also check out the final results at the Classic Rock’s site’s VS page.

Finally on to the Beatles’ poll, where it’s week 175, and we rap up the multi-part question that we’ve been asking at this poll which is: What is the one song that defines the Beatles? (Part 5 of 5) We now vote on the top 5 songs picked each week in first 4 weeks of voting on this question. 20 excellent songs to choose from!

To make your pick for this week, just click on: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Beatle poll we asked: What is the one song that defines the Beatles? (Part 4 of 5) Here are the 5 songs from Part 4 that make it on to the final list: She Loves You (26.7%); Twist and Shout (12.8%); Ticket to Ride (12.6%); While My Guitar Gently Weeps (5.8%) and Yesterday (5.8%).

Well just like when I wrote last week’s poll post, it took well over 2 hours to copy this stuff from the week before and add in the new wording – with (too) many long breaks by me in between. If I don’t heal soon I think I just might go nuts!

I thank all of you all for voting in our polls.
