Keno is wearing one in the pic with Stonesdoug and Jaxx
Wow, I never realized it but that shirt shown in that photo, which I think has been up on every Stones board (be it years ago) is the Tee shirt that I wrote about in my book about the '81 show. It was the one official Stones Tee of that tour for sale (unlike now where they have so many different ones for each tour). I still have that Tee but I can't even remember when I last wore it since it is now small on me. It might have been the day that photo was taken - in '98(or '99?), I think. (This edited in a few minutes after I posted this reply..... I just remembered that the photo is up on the Gassers photo page, and I see that I noted there that the photo was taken in Feb of '03, before the Denver show. Just shows you how I always get my tours mixed up!) But by not wearing something, well it can last forever that way. It is still in good shape today!
My all time favorite Stones tee was the one I got, back in the '60s when I was about 12 years old and no question, I wore that one the most! I actually got into trouble at school when I first wore it because back in those backwards days the school I went to didn't allow kids to wear t-shirts to school. But the good thing about the '60s was stuff like this was being challenged for the first time by so many and yes, since other kids also were starting to wear Tee's to school, that stupid rule from the '50s (along with others) kinda just went away in the next school year. That tee was my first Stones t-shirt and one of the first I remember seeing, long before the lips were around. But as soon as the lips were out, I owned one of the first tees that had it. It had MJ's face sticking out of the middle of the lips. Yet it actually wasn't as cool as my first Stones tee which showed the band on it, but by that time I was in need of a new tee to replace that other one, which got torn bad and wasn't wearable any longer. Wish I never got rid of those first two t-shirts, and I recall the second one I didn't have long, only a few years. Mom threw it away right after high school, when I was on my first cross-country trip. Don't recall why I didn't take it with me, but when I got back to NY from that trip, ready to move out west, I couldn't find it and I found out mom gave it away to the poor in some clothing drive (without asking me!).
So come to think of it, I guess that '81 shirt is the oldest Stones T-shirt that I still have today. I'm gonna put it on tomorrow just to see how much it don't fit me anymore, Ronnie!
