I'm going to give Sweet Sounds Of Heaven a TEN as well.
Its pretty hard not to. And yes its truly a gospel song mixed with some rock n roll. Its just stunning that these 3 men in their late 70s recorded this (it was made before Mick became an octogenarian) along with Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga.
Like I was trying to say in my rating for Angry, the newness of this music makes it a but hard to properly review. There is such joy in having these guys back that it can cloud one's critical mind. But I really do think this is could be one day viewed as a classic Stones track. It does sounds like a couple of other Stones songs, but there is nothing new there. Many Stones songs sound like other Stones songs. But this one is beautiful. I love the reference to Charlie when Mick sings of "hearing the drums"
Its really a song about heaven, just as the title informs us. And there is talk of God, and even of Holy Communion. The Stones are not strangers to these subjects - and here they are doing it again.
