Like I say, I have never read or heard anything from Waters refuting Richards' words. I've tried google, nothing. The thought remains that Waters was already dead by the time Richards said what he did. I'm a Muddy Waters person, so if anybody can direct me to where Waters says he wasn't painting any ceiling, then I should be obliged; I'd love to read Waters talking about that day.
Send me the link to the picture you saw, and I'll try to shed some light on it. As far as I know no pictures of Pallenberg's funeral have yet emerged, I think it was a very private affair. No doubt at some point something will be published. I'm sure there will be an interview with Richards talking about Pallenberg's passing, soon enough.
It's entirely possible that Richards made the decision to attend after his mother died, when he was coming to terms with the fact that he was never going to see her again, especially given what she meant to him. I think death, funerals, and how people deal with them is an intensely personal thing. I would never criticize anyone for changing their mind on attending or not attending a funeral. I think people should try not to beat themselves up over decisions they took re a funeral. Everybody I'm sure makes a decision at the time that they think is right for them, taking into account circumstances etc.
