I was interested in your comment about Waters stating that Richards' claim was untrue. As far as I'm aware Richards first made his claim in the late 80's, and Waters died in 1983. So I was thinking that Waters couldn't have refuted Richard's claim, because he was dead years before Richards ever made it.
Well if that's the case, then you would be correct. I can't be sure when and were I first read it that Muddy said it never happened, since I've read that at so many different places - including here at Gasland, that he did.
I don't know if you were planning on saying anymore on the funeral issue above, if not then maybe I should try to clear up a possible mix up on your part. I think when you say that you saw photographs of Richards at Pallenberg's funeral, and he looked just like he does in the the photographs that I think we can now agree were taken at his mother's funeral i.e. with the dyed black hair and little moustache, then I suspect that what you have been looking at, is another photograph of Richards at his mothers funeral in 2007.
No, well, at least one of the photos - the one with him and Anita's daughter - was the same exact one shown! My guess was the newspaper article that reported this online about Anita's funeral got their photos mixed up.
Whatever the reason for the 'look', it was one that Richards has never returned to.
Thank goodness, he looked so phony with that dye! He looks for real with his real grey showing - looks good with it I say. I mean Mick gets away with his dye job, but Ronnie's dye looks totally phony on him, but I guess he has to keep the young wife happy.... Gosh, I'm now in my mid 60s and I still have almost no grey hair at all, and I actually don't like it. I want to look my age, but even my skin hasn't wrinkled at all yet. But my beard is the only thing that helps people get close to guessing my age, since it's all grey and white now, well it's 95% there, but even the beard has a streak or 2 of black hair left in it. But I take after my dad on that, he didn't start to go grey until he was past 70, and when he passed away at 87, he still had salt and pepper hair.
Richards as I've said might be all sorts of things, but I think on this occasion we can cut him some slack and agree that in actual fact did attend his mothers funeral in 2007.
I think it's possible that yes, the interview was made before his mother died. I mean, why would he lie about that? But he did tell his mother that he wasn't gonna attend her funeral, and since he did, since he was with her at her bedside when she was dying, I hope he also told her that he changed his mind and would attend. I think our mothers deserve that and it kills me to this day that I couldn't attend my own mothers funeral. But my mom - 2 days before she died, pretty much ordered me not to attend if she was to pass in the upcoming week (and she did), and the truth was, I couldn't go, as I had just underwent major surgery 4 days before she passed, and she lived in NY while I was in Colorado, so I couldn't get there.
