But apparently I need to explain what I meant..... I use the term 'real football' because of the distinction between the sport I prefer and the American football you like so much. Why is it that a problem to you all of a sudden. I never even meant it as an insult.
Okay, but that isn't what the word "real" means, so you confused me and I'm sure others by using it in that way.
Perhaps in part it is that stupid internet thing where we can't hear the other person's voice and what they are actually trying to convey. After so many years it still happens to me, and I can see it still happens to others, including you. If you didn't mean to insult, then cool. But the way you have been using the word "real" in this debate, as only European football is real, well that was wearing thin and looked like you were making fun of American football. I would ask you kindly from now on to please try to find a different word than "real" to describe what you really mean.

See, now I know that you don't mean it to be insulting, yet it still looks uncool when you state it like that. Both sports are real! Maybe I'm still not sure how you mean to use the word "real" here. You are not saying American football is phony, OK, are you saying European football is what you are only used to and what you only know, so it is real in that sense to you, as American football you don't know, so it isn't real to you? But that isn't what the meaning of the word "real" is, so it is confusing to others when used in that matter. What is real is this: You play soccer (or European football) one way - only the goaltender can use his hands, and no body else can. You kick the ball up and down the field trying to score one point at a time by placing it in the opponent's net. In American football, using your hands is the main deal, there is only limited kicking - and only the place kicker and punter kicks the ball. Everybody else either throws, runs with, or catches the ball with their hands, as the defenders try to take it away with their hands. You also can score points in several different ways. By throwing, running with, or catching the ball in the opponent's end zone. You can score either 6 points at one time, and 2 more points directly after a touchdown in this matter. By kicking, you can score 3 points with a field goal, or 1 point directly after a touchdown. Then the defense can score 2 points if they can catch an opponent in their own end zone. Those are the rules in the US. In Canadian football, you can also score points in other ways if I recall, but I don't follow their football, so I'm not an expert on that.
But that's some of the differences between the two sports. There is a lot more, especially in American football - like tackling, etc, and in European football you got penalty shots, etc. But the bottom line is, both sports are totally real. So I do hope you get my point and can explain your point in another way, even if you didn't mean to be insulting.
So at first I was flabbergasted about your reply, and then it pissed me off because you were deliberately rude in your previous post.
Heck, I was not trying to be rude at all! I was just stating that I find soccer boring. Not just your European football, but US soccer, too (is there any difference between the two?).
I mean read that reply again, where was I directly rude? Again, saying something is a bore is a personal opinion and nothing more, It isn't meant as insulting.
And I don't care for you explanation, because I wasn't offended by it. I am offended by the fact that you apparently find it okay to be rude for yourself but not for others.
What was wrong with my explanation, I still stand by it! Had I been rude, then fine. But I wasn't being rude, I was defending the US game of football against you calling it fake (or phony), as it did appeared that was what you meant, even if you didn't. You asked me if I can read, well, what about you? You know what the word "real" means. So if something isn't real, what is it then?
I can and do accept your explanation that you didn't mean to insult. I wish you would show me the same respect in what I'm saying to you. If there is one thing I do allow here is that everybody is equal and I do not put myself above anybody here when it comes to others and who writes what (other than flamers), and you saying that I do put myself above others in what I can write and others can't, isn't the truth at all and it hurts to read that - or think you even believe that. I don't think you would have been posting here for so many years if you really did believed that. So I hope you will accept my explanation and then read that reply again that I wrote in a different light. I was not being insulting at all, I was just defending my favorite sport against what I took as insulting to us fans who love it. But I sure didn't mean any harm.
