I spent some time writing a post last night and when I finally hit "Enter", nothing showed up. I'm not sure what happened. Did I mess up?
More than likely it was just bad timing, as the board and entire domain went down sometime that night and was then off line for a few hours. So you must have made your post right when that happened. Sorry about that!
Yesterday I played all 11 Stones songs on the list and ended up going with "Moonlight Mile". The thing about MT's slide on that song and on most of the others, is Taylor played slide so differently then Brian Jones did. With Jones, his slide took over the songs he played it on, while with MT, his slide more than anything became a part of the songs but really rarely ever took over most of them. MM is a good example of that, but that slide of his near the end of the song is as beautiful as any slide ever heard on a Stones or Rock song, period (plus the violins helped in there, too). Yet overall I still liked Brian's style better, and that's how most Rockers seem to play slide, too, but MT's approach is just so damn mellow.
I'm surprised the LS song you voted on isn't getting a lot of votes in the Rock poll, while it's one of the few anti-drug songs listed, it's still about getting stoned, too. I went with "One Toke Over the Line" myself. There really are too many good ones to choose from on that list!... and next week's list/choices will be the same way, too.
I gave the FM song a 9 too... and the Fab album cover also got a 9 from me.
One last note on a different poll vote: Have you all voted in the Rock Hall's Fan Nominees Poll for this year? I hate how they set this up, where you can vote once a day - ridiculous to say the least, and I don't care for the band that's in the lead, even if I guess they are looked at as a Classic Rock band and many Stones fans seems to like them.
