That's funny on 2 counts... First, Reed's Rock & Roll Animal is also one of my all time favorite live albums, too, and I'm the type who isn't into live albums that much, but that one is flat out great, especially the opening intro with those 2 great guitar riffs just weaving away, and then followed by "Sweet Jane", talk about sweet indeed! Plus yes, "Heroin" is also excellent on there too; again, the entire LP if flat out great!... but also, you can consider either the studio or live take of the song, really either song, when you vote in this poll. In fact for the Stones Youtube link to the song in the voting booth, it's a live cut of the song. It is not and has never been in these polls, limited to the studio cuts only, both live and studio versions count. I guess you're getting confused by the fact that it says "original" in the choice field (but not in the question), but that only means that the song isn't a cover song, and if it was, it would read as "cover" instead of as "original". In other words, this song was written by a band member. If the live version wasn't to be considered, then it would have read as "studio version only".
Sorry that confused you, and I can see now how it could be a bit confusing, but I never mean "original" to apply or mean the studio version only of the song. Years ago I did note a bit more, usually in the poll post, that you could consider either the live or studio take of any songs that we vote on.
