Thing is, Jimmy was just in his mid teens on many of those early songs from '63 to '65, he was really still learning the ropes of the music business in those days.
I'm surprised his lead guitar on "Hurdy Gurdy Man" isn't running away with this one, but some falsely believe he wasn't even on the song because of something that John Paul Jones said. What Jones said was true, but only for the day he played on the track, as Page wasn't around that day. His guitar was added in later, but as Donovan (and Page) noted, the lead guitar was played by Page, no question about it. I mean, just listen to that guitar, it's clearly him playing there, nobody else in the mid '60s played guitar in that way, period.
My picks:
Stones 1: B&L is better, but many fans just love their '60s LPs more than any other albums, and B&L is getting beat up for that reason I believe.
Stones 2: VL, by a light year.
Rock 1: "Hurdy Gurdy Man", but the Joe Cocker Beatles cover that is in first place right now is a great pick, too.
Rock 2: "The Bridge".
Fabs: "Happiness Is a Warm Gun". I like that almost all the songs listed are real close in the voting for this one so far!
