Well, without Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins there may not have been rock as it is today. It had to start somewhere and IMO it started with Elvis and his incredible moves and voice. He was the MJ of the 50s. HE was a phenom!
Nobody had ever seen anything like it and it swept across the states, the pond and went global so fast. Elvis was so talented it was just amazing. His voice was one of the best of ALL time!
Keno, you think the 50s would even have a shot vs the 60s?? It should because Elvis is what influenced the Beatles/Stones and many other UK bands. I wish you would pole that question and there are many other questions that branch off that one question. Hope you do a vs soon, because with out Elvis, Where would rock be? JL agrees with that, no doubt.
