RE: RE: Nicky Hopkins/Fire/Ringo

Keno on a side note on the Album standings page Tattoo You at 6-3-1 has a winning percentage of .650 and should be listed ahead of It's Only Rock 'n Roll 9-5-1 comes out to .633

That might be so, but you will notice I'm not listing percentages on that list. I realize you don't know this about me, but the main reason I'm not listing percentages is I suffer from math dyslexia, better know as dyscalculia, something I was born with, and like dyslexia, which I also have, you got to live with it for your entire life, as there's no cure for it. Of course this doesn't mean people who suffer from this are stupid, some people with the highest IQs have this, but it does mean that some things in life will always be difficult, like being able to figure out how to do math problems and then later on totally forgetting how you did them. That explains how I took algebra for 2 years in high school and passed it in both years with a B average, yet I couldn't recall how to do those same problems a year later. My math teacher blamed it on my pot consumption, but I never used weed while in school, only after school was out for the day, and that had nothing to do with what was really wrong. But in the early 1970s they didn't really know enough about dyscalculia, as was also the case with dyslexia in those days, too. Today they know a lot more about it, but they still can't cure it and at least in my lifetime, they won't.

Now if you or anybody else would like to lend a hand with the standings each week, that would be fine, cool, and appreciated, since I'm not going to rack my brain on getting it right, either. I could figure it out on my own if I took my time, but I'm not gonna do that week after week, since it isn't that important and I rather not take up the time in doing it. But then again, it would be nice to have the standings exactly right, instead of almost right, so seriously, feel free to lend a helping hand if you like.

In The Beatles poll I went with It Don't Come Easy. I know it's not a post Beatles song but I like Act Naturally with Ringo while in The Beatles.

But it is! It came out in '71 and was recorded at the end of '70, after the Beatles were broken up in early April of that year. Now a song or 2 on the list were made while the Beatles were sill officially a band, like "Sentimental Journey", but these polls are really more looking at their solo stuff. So while perhaps 1% of the songs listed for all 4 of the former Fabs were made while the band was still together, I'm counting them too, since the question next week when we combine the top picked songs, will say "solo" and not "post Beatles".

I went with "Photograph" for my Ringo pick. I also went with Arthur Brown's Fire (that poll is super close at the moment, so do vote in it if you haven't yet), and in another super close poll this week is the Nicky Hopkins poll, where there's a 3 way tie for first. In that one, as I noted already, I went with the piano solo he wrote for Quicksilver Messenger Service, "Spindrifter", which isn't in the running, even if it should be. The 3 songs tied for first as of tonight are: "Angie" "Getting In Tune" and "You Are So Beautiful". They been tied all week it seems, with "Jealous Guy" and "Photograph' both next in line one vote out of first.
