There is a difference between animal abusers and those who raise animals for food. But where most animal abusers hurt animals but don't kill them, those who raise them would never hurt them, but always kill them. So who's worst? I say the abusers are.
Where I live, when you leave town, there's only one way out of here, since we got these 13 and 14,000 foot mountains to our east, so you gotta head west, into the largest alpine valley on earth (it's called the San Luis Valley, and it really is the largest, you could Google it if you like) and all along the county road that you take out of town, there are large numbers of cattle and yak living in the fields off the road, enjoying their view of the mountains, and they all look so peaceful, and they are clueless as to what awaits them in a couple of years or so.
We also have large herds of deer and elk living here. The deer visit my home usually twice a day, there's about 8 to 10 of them in each family that comes around, and we totally take them for granted here in town. But because of how cool and peaceful that they are, I will never again eat venison, even if I love how it tastes. I just can't eat my friends (neighbors), and they are friends and I enjoy their visits and their being around and sharing the land here with us.
