I was never a huge fan, but their use of gimmicks over musicianship is about as rock and roll as it gets. Ace Frehley was the one standout musician in the original band, and he is no longer with them. And whole Criss had a fine voice for ballads, he was arguably a better singer than drummer. They are mostly a nostalgia show band at this point, doing quite well for themselves via the business savvy of Gene Simmons, which is fine for those willing to pay the price of admission.
