Well the day got off to a great start. I got up early and brought my kids over to my brother’s for 10ish. My mom was on the phone with my sister in law and she put me on the phone with her and she was yapping my pants off! Not good – will have to kick my sister in law’s ass for that lol. So now I’m leaving at 11. I thought this will still bring me into Buffalo in good timing. NOT! Once I got just out of Toronto, I got on the Queen’s Elizabeth Way highway and traffic was horrid. It was so hot that day too with no a/c in my batmobile. The Pan Am Games are being held in Toronto so they have been enforcing the “HOV” lanes, which is the farthest left lane that nobody can travel on unless they have 3 or more people in the car. What a rip off that is, stupid Canadian Government!!! The problem is, the QEW is a very busy highway on a normal day and it only has 3 lanes. So really, everyone was stuck in two lanes. It took me 5 hours to get my ass to Buffalo when it only should have taken about 2.5 hours. I flew over the border thank God and then was hoping Miss Jan remembered to leave my name at the hotel front desk as it was well past shuttle pick up time. Sure enough, my sweet Louisiana soulmate thought of me and so I was able to get in and get ready to go. I wandered downstairs to have a smoke and was then going to phone a cab. I saw a couple outside that seemed like they were going to see the stones so I asked them if they were headed there and they were! So they offered me to jump in and split the fare. Turns out they are actually from a place called Wasaga Beach which is a half hour away from my city. This was their first time seeing them and I told them they were in for a real treat. Small world! Our cabbie brought us to one side of the stadium and the place was packed! I’m trying to hide my 6 pack of tallboys in my clear bag from the coppers LOL. But when the Police knocked, those doors flew back. Sweet Virginia was a rockin! The residents of the US of A know how to party and I’ve experienced my first tail gate! You guys rock. My walk to Danny’s restaurant was much better. Really nice people everywhere! I made it to the tent and was greeted by a pile of Shidoobees and then ran into Jan & Lou, and finally got to meet Maxmeister and Dragon in the Sky. Was so cool to meet you guys! I was so tired though from the long hot drive. So I made up a plate of food and then Jan whisked me away into the parking lot so we could “talk” lol. Some dude started walking towards us all official so we got all paranoid but he was just coming to see if we had an extra paper. So we sat with this guy for a bit too. Man, I was dazed and confused by this point. The only part that sucked was Jan was leaving like a thief in the night to catch a flight so I wouldn’t be able to wake up with her and spend more time. I still needed to get a ticket so I sucked back the rest of my beers. So many people were telling me I have an accent lol so I replied "no I don't but you sure do"! Who really does have the accents, Ronnie? My shidoobee friend Joe from the Bronx (who has an accent) was there and we walked together to the stadium and he made sure I got myself a ticket, the fine gentleman he is, before we parted ways! So I got a ticket right at the stadium for $100 and it put me into section 114. I was pretty happy with that! I had a side view of the stage but we were pretty close. I had time to roam around before going to my seat so what does a northern Canadian girl do but buy more beers! I was feeling no pain at this point. The show was amazing! I can’t believe how much better the Stones are performing these past few years! I really loved Wild Horses, CYHMK, BTMMR & Happy! And MR was awesome too! I made my way back to the restaurant and we hopped on our shuttle and went back to our hotel. I was disappointed that the Stones didn’t offer to bring me backstage but whaddya do? I didn’t realize just how tired I was cause we got back to the hotel around 2 am I think and were supposed to go to a pizza party somewhere but I hit the bed and was out in minutes. I hope I wasn’t snoring Jan! Anyway, I woke up out of a dead sleep at 6:30 am and I didn’t feel that good Ronnie! I wanted to blast off but needed to wait cause I still felt a little impaired. I waited about an hour and slowly got ready. Went to the border and made it through again no sweat! Once I was back on Canadian land it felt a little better that I made it through without any bullshit at the border, even though I had nothing to hide. While I love that I have found my independence and go and do these crazy fun things on my own, it gets stressful at times that I have to do everything and I really do love to be the sidekick sleeping in the passenger seat sometimes. So I'm ecstatic that I'm on holidays for a week as all I wanted to do was jump in that lake I was telling you guys about but first I had to go home and pack for the week! Sheeesh! Last thing you want to do when you aren’t feeling the best. What was awesome is when I got home, my neighbor invited my boys over to her place. Such a bonus!!! I ran like a maniac and got the packing done in about an hour! Off to the cottage and I jumped in when we got there – the water was beautiful and so was the weather for the week. I had a great vacation and what a way to bring it in! Sorry for the late review. It sucks to be back at work, Ronnie!
