This writeup was sent to me from one of my insiders, and bad news if you live where I'm at, looks like Red Rocks will not happen anymore, and that they could flat out skip Colorado again, one of the few places in the US where everybody stands up for their entire shows, so just what the fuck is your problem Mick, Denver should had been one of your first cities to book for this tour! I mean, they are looking at playing Salt Lake City maybe instead? They didn't even sell that place out the last time they played there!.... About the only thing missing from this report is any news what-so-ever on MT, but that alone I thinks says something! Here you go, some of this looks like it may have been posted on one of the other message boards, but I don't read any of them and have no way of knowing. I only know this is from several sources, mainly inside the band:
We do have some additional details regarding potential tour stops and promotional performances, as the band’s schedule is in the final throes of completion: First, it looks like the three cities vying to secure the May 27th “mystery show” are Seattle, Salt Lake City and Denver – with Denver as the heavy favorite as of now. Second, there is a very good chance The Stones will perform on SNL, leading up to the tour kickoff in San Diego on May 24th.
Third, Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show may air a special “Stones Week,” featuring a performance from Mick and Keith. Check the tour schedule below, updated as of 12 p.m. March 21. Here are a few areas of note on the tour schedule. There is a six-day gap between the tour kickoff date in San Diego on May 24th and the next official stop in Columbus, OH, on May 30th. It’s highly unlikely that six-day gap will remain empty so we are dropping in a “Mystery Show” placeholder on May 27th. There will be a show, but it remains unclear exactly where it will be. Unfortunately, Santa Clara, CA, is out. The Santa Clara stop was at odds with Raleigh, geographically speaking. Santa Clara was initially rumored to be slated for June 29th and Raleigh for July 1st. The logistics of traveling from Kansas City on June 27th to Santa Clara on June 29th and then all the way back to Raleigh on July 1st was inefficient at best. It appears that inefficiency was enough to drop it from the schedule.
LP Field Titans SongMango.com: Orlando has a new date of June 13th, and the Nashville show will take place June 17th at LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans.
ORIGINAL POST (from March 15): There is both good news and bad. First the bad news, and I’ll preface the gloom with this: Oftentimes negotiations surrounding potential tour stops happen right up until the week of the tour announcement. It is now believed that stops at Red Rocks and the Hollywood Bowl are out.
As far as Red Rocks goes, the band definitely wanted to play the iconic amphitheater in Morrison, CO, and Jeep’s sponsorship of the hallowed venue made the financial challenges of playing a small, 9,000-plus capacity venue possible. Remember, Jeep sponsored the Stones’ recent shows in Australia. However, it appears negotiations stalled, and sadly, the band will not be playing there.
From Tom Wallace/Star Tribune: The good news for Los Angeles is there will be at least one tour stop, and probably two promotional-type shows somewhere in the city. These will likely go down around May 20th. In advance of Paul McCartney’s recent tour, he did Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show from Hollywood Boulevard – and The Stones could very well do the same. Another one of the promo events – it is rumored – could be held at the Nokia Theatre. Any way you slice it, Los Angeles is getting at least one show.
More news: Sticky Fingers tracks... Although it appears the band will indeed play and feature their classic 1971 Sticky Fingers album on the tour, it looks like it will be played in its entirety at two to-be-determined, “very special” smaller shows. This makes sense since the Sticky Fingers album – which contains a number of slower songs, like “You Gotta Move” and “Sister Morphine” – might have trouble keeping the attention of an entire football stadium. And if there’s one thing Mick Jagger hates, it’s losing an audience.
