Tonight, Sunday night, I really missed my mother. For the last 15 years or so, it was every Sunday night when I would get to talk to her, she would call me between 5 and 7pm, and just for a moment tonight at around 6pm, I looked up at the clock and thought, mom should be calling soon, and half way through the thought I realized no, she will not call me anymore; but how automatic and built-in my brain that is. Not getting to talk to her anymore is perhaps the worst part of losing her. There's just nothing like talking to your mother, and I'm really gonna miss those calls.
I thank all of you for your wonderful replies here, and for those of you who also emailed me, including Gassers who no longer post. That is the thing with funerals, you see people at them who you haven't seen in years, and now online, it's working the same way, getting to hear from past Gassers who still lurk.
