Yes, good news travels very fast!
Just last month I noted how my top Stones insider had very little to report as far as a Stones tour for next year went, other than time was running out as far as putting together a new, big tour. He also told me all this stuff about the new DVD Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas 78 that he asked me not to talk about yet, so I didn't, as I always keep my promises to him and in turn, when he can, he tels me everything I need to know and hopefully things I can tell you.
So yes, he is working on the Some Girls DVD release with the Stones & Eagle Rock. He's told me all about it and it will be a great treat for Stones fans, indeed. Yes, there will be the same kind of special release in theaters across the country again (on Oct. 4th), like they had for Ladies and Gents.....
He also sent in a lot of bonus footage to go with the DVD, although even he can't say for sure right now how much of it they will end up using. Mick also did a special interview for the DVD two weeks ago that will be included. They also re-edited the entire film from the original camera angles and according to my friend "...it looks great, the sound was redone also (by Bob Clearmountain) and he did a great job on that!"... One last thing about the Some Girls album..... They are also re-issuing the LP - with bonus tracks.
Some news on the release of the Stones appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show..... This will be a six DVD set, coming out soon. They will be the complete 1 hour shows with the commercials and all the other acts on each of the six times the Stones were on the show. I don't know myself if I want to watch all of that other stuff, like the stupid commercials, but that is what the release will be.
Now about the meeting they had the other day. It covered several different business things - including the main talk about a tour for next year. Yesterday was still too soon to know what went down at that meeting - even for insiders. But, the news heard about a tour, is it would be set for the summer of 2012. What should have been talked about at the meeting was how big it will be.... but nobody yet knows (other than those at the meeting) how big of a tour they decided on (or if they decided against going on tour). Mick is planning to go on the road with his new group Super Heavy, prior to the summer of 2012 (not a huge tour but a tour no less). So they more than likely were working on scheduling around that, but exactly what was discussed at the meeting hasn't been leaked out by the Stones yet.
When I find out more, I'll yet ya all know.
