The rules are simple and easy. A list of games can be found below. You simply need to choose the one team in EACH game matchup you believe will win the game, for a total of 16 picks per week, until we go through the NFL Playoffs. (The number of picks per week will decrease drastically once the NFL playoffs begin.) In this shortened version of the football pool we will pick all NFL games each week right up to, and including, the Super Bowl. Beginning with the coming Week 11 in the NFL.
Stones Bootleg Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers at the end of the NFL Playoffs. (5 Boots for First Place, 3 for 2nd and 2 for 3rd.) If you would like to donate further prizes then by all means, email me.
Make your weekly picks in the "Pick 'em thread" posted each week. Make this week's picks in this thread. Feel free to expand on why you pick one team over another, but please make it perfectly clear which team you choose to win each game.
MAKE YOUR PICKS ON TIME. That means BEFORE the kickoff of the Thursday Night game for the Thursday Night game.(WE have a Thursday Night game to pick THIS WEEK!), and by 1 PM eastern time Sunday for ALL the Sunday and Monday games.
There will be no Bye Week or Jack Flash rule to bail you out. If you "miss" a week you will receive NO credit for correct picks for that week. I will post each pick 'em thread on Tuesday giving you over 5 days to make your Sunday and Monday picks on time. If you are planning on going out of town or Gasland is temporarily "down" you can send me your picks via email. My email addy is brianh05@yahoo.com . (Do yourself a favor and write it down now... stick it in your wallet or on your fridge. You likely will need it.) You can pick 3 weeks ahead if you wish via email. (Simply google, "ESPN 2009 NFL schedule", for a schedule of the NFL games ahead.) So if you are going out of town for the Holidays say, and will not be able to get to a PC, your picks can be made ahead of time and you will not "miss" a week. I would hate if anyone missed a week, but if you do, then you will have no one to blame but yourself.
One very slight change from the past is I will no longer tally the incorrect picks made by our Gasser pool contestants. (It really doesn't matter anyway.) For example if one goes 10 - 6 for a week, that Gasser's score will simply be a "10". That 10 would then be added to the next weeks correctly picked number. (This will decrease the amount of math I must do by half each week. I'm not being paid to do this...this is not my "job". I'm doing it as a favor to Gasland so we ALL can have some fun. The less math involved the more fun for me and the less potential for errors made. More fun and less hassles for us all. That's the idea.) I am in this for fun only, just like everybody else. If it ceases to be fun then I may walk away and allow someone else to run the pool. That would only happen if criticism, disagreements and bickering began to suck the fun out of the pool. On the other hand if you dispute my tally of your Pool "score" then by all means DO email me and I will recount. (Another reason to write down my email addy.) I try hard to make an accurate count but I am human and do make mistakes. So let's get it right! Just email me.
Enough on the rules. Let's get ready to Rumbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbble!!!! All Gassers are welcome to join in on the fun and play for prizes. Let's Do It! I'm feeling as strong as a young Jim Taylor after my beloved Packers stuck it to Jerry Jones' Cowgirls this past Sunday! America's team? Pffffffffft !!! America's Pack took 'em down!
