The album is fantastic and diverse. What's not to love about it?! (Don't answer that question, DA. ;->)
That's really an invitation to answer it TM, no? You really do make excellent points for an album you obviously love. I just re-read the review you wrote for me this summer when we were discussing the album and it's just as good as this one.
We agree on Gimme Shelter, one of the best songs in the Stones's entire catalogue. Fabulous studio version, and the song is equally great live, with Mick Taylor's jaw-dropping guitar solos.
The studio version of LIV doesn't really work al that well for me (I much prefer the Robert Johnson original). Live versions (again thanks to Mick Taylor) are another matter entirely.
I used to hate Country Honk but I have recently revisited my opinion of this song and I now think it's quite all right. Not great, but enjoyable.
We also agree on Live with Me and Monkey Man, which are fantastic songs. LIB is good, but not great, and Midnight Rambler is just soooooooo much better live! The studio version really suffers in comparison.
More American roots on 'You Got The Silver' and Keith sings this love song with conviction. Ranks number three as a Keith sung Stones song for me.
I would love to know what the other two are... Funny that Keith's singing should come up in the week that LIB is up against GHS in the poll, because for me Keith's all-time best vocal performance is on Coming Down Again. YGTS is an OK song, but kinda forgettable as far as I am concerned.
And I'm not going to mention YCAGWYW again, lest I upset Keno. LOL.

Heck, perhaps after DA read this she is now running over to her CD collection to see what she missed with this album - that is, if she can find her more than likely discarded CD of it! LOL
Not discarded my dear. LIB is in its own designated slot in my CD holder, a slot it doesn't leave all that often :D
