RE: Anything like this ever happen to you? (nsc)

But the point is: have you ever been in a relationship or friendship with someone, and have a falling out, and they become a huge success?

No, if anything the opposite has happened to me. My first ex-wife always bitch that I made it big right after we split, which was the truth, since the two of us were always broke, not matter how many jobs we worked.

I've known two people who had movies made about them, and in both cases it wasn't a good thing. Weird that both of these movies were made about a year apart, years ago, when I was in my teens..... The movie Richie, which starred a young Robbie Benson and was later retitled The Death of Richie, was about this crazy kid who lived down the block from me. I was not friends with him by any means, because he was a punk (not as in the rock term) and a total asshole. My best friend Mark once got busted for something that Richie actually did. But we both did some of the same drugs, so we had that drug connection and that would be the only time I would deal with him. Anyway, he was shot to death in the chest (shot in the arm, too) by his sick father (who was a special marksman for the police department) one day when he was only 17. His old man claimed that his life was threaten, but his story was a total lie. His fucked up dad applied the child abuse (via beatings) that he went through as a kid and was why he was such a nutcase in the first place. His dad had all charges dropped after a week and he served no time for killing his son. He then got rich after he wrote a book that came out just weeks after the murder; he also had a deal with Life magazine, and then the movie was made within months of the book - and taken from the book, which was filled with nothing but lies about Richie. The movie made Richie out to be some kind of real nice kid who loved everybody, and was turned into this mean kid from the drugs he took - after the drug dealers preyed on him! The truth was, Richie was a mean kid since the day that family moved into the neighborhood (he was like 10 then). The first fist fight I ever got into was in sixth grade with Richie - a fight he started because he was trying to boss me around simply because he was a year older than me. Years later when he got into drugs, it had nothing to do with dealers, everybody on our street did drugs, and if anything, it was Richie who was the hard nosed drug pusher, trying to get kids who didn't do hard drugs to have their first taste. Still, he was only 17 and just a stupid kid, and he didn't deserve the death sentence, which was handed down and carried out by his father. Drugs didn't kill Richie, his old man did, and the movie was a total lie. The only good thing was that his old man died from cancer just two years later.

The second move made where I knew the person was Dog Day Afternoon. Al Pacino played Sonny Wortzik (not his real last name) who was married to my cousins' cousin (but she wasn't my cousin). Still I knew her and their two kids, but only met him a couple of times. I remember him being exactly as he was portrayed in the movie, a wild but friendly guy who cussed whenever he talked. Yet I didn't know that he was bisexual and had a second, male wife. I also recall the day when the bank holdup and hostage deal was taking place, as it was the first time I recall TV going live at the location (they were just coming out with the new portable TV cameras around that time). It was something to watch on live TV, and I had no clue who the bank robber was till my mom came home from work and said to me, "Do you know who that guy is....". I didn't before then know his full name.

So that was the two times people I knew had movies made about them. Like I said, nothing to be proud of.
