2004 Crestone Weather Extremes:

Highest Temperature:     95.9° on July 14
Lowest Temperature:   -19.8° on February 13 (-26° reported a few miles away in the Grants, on same day)
Most Precip (month):      2.20" in April
Least Precip (month):      0.00" in May
Most Snow (24 hours):   10.1" on February 3 & 4
Most Snow (one storm): 16.2" from January 31 to February 4
Highest Wind Gust:         50 mph on May 26

Unusual Crestone Weather Notes For 2004:

February  was one of the coldest February's on record.

Light snow fell on March 13 with the air temperature at 54°F and a humidity reading of 24%
.

March was one of the warmest on record for the month, and the second driest March ever, with record low snowfall.

One inch of hail was on the ground after a hail storm hit on April 9.

April was the third wettest April on record.

May was the driest ever on record, with zero precip recorded, only the third time any month has reported such a reading since record keeping started in 1982.

A new record was set here in Crestone when no measurable precipitation was recorded for 51 and 3/4 days, between 10 PM April 30, till 5 PM on June 21.

Temperature of 95.9° on July 14, ties for the second highest reading ever recorded in Crestone, yet the month of July was cooler than normal this year.

This August was the second driest ever recorded for the month.

It rained just a little on December 29 (0.04"). This is the first time rain has been reported in Crestone in December.  It still has never rained here in January or February, those are now the only two months that can claim this.

December was the fourth driest December on record, with all of the four driest Decembers occurring since the year 2000. Out of the past 10 Decembers, only one (2001), had above normal precip recorded.

2004 was the 4th driest year on record, and only the 4th year that single-digit precip was recorded for an entire year, and this has occurred now in three out of the last five years.
