: : Some good points but your biggest error is that the Rolling Stones lasted too long. That's part of their majesty. They survived & thrived. Anyone Seen My Baby was quite a song. I know some drips dissed it but it was a great song(on record). The Stones are not as strong as they were 15 or 25 years ago because that market that they play to is not as unified as it once was. Their live show is getting rave reviews. More to say but not enough time. Interesting subject & may I say on behalf of the band "I'm glad we passed the audition."
: I am very gald they lasted as long as the have, but for purposes of people who are stricktly ranking the music, I think it diminishes them. Also, I think Baby is a pretty mediocre song on record. They did ok with it live, but it really isn't an interesting song, it has a boring everything, and a pretend disco bass line to boot. I did like it at first but that was mostly because it was a new song. After the initial interest faded I felt no need to hear it again.
I could go back and forth with all the points in all the posts on this subject, but the bottom line is... The Beatles were the social phenomenon of the time, and the catalyst for most that followed. This will always keep them #1 by the masses. Personnaly, in my heart of hearts, I truly believe, everything considered, the Stones deserve that honor.
