Excellent points as usual Big Vic. It might also have to do with the fact that most of the lyrics are about drugs and sex.

: This is really an aspect of the Glimmers that gets no respect. I am so sick of people saying young songwriters aspire to be the next Lennon/McCartney. You never hear anyone say they want to be the next Jagger/Richards. I suppose it has something to do with the Stones still being active. Lennon, because of his life and death, is placed above all- which I can almost understand, and McCartney, despite all his "silly little love songs" is also beyond reproach. Mick and Keith do not fall into this category. This might upset me more then all the "old" comments because it overlooks the most cerebral aspect of being a musician- songwriting. The only time I ever heard them get their due was when Pete Townshend inducted them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He mentioned the amazing songs these two men wrote. He was fucking right on.
