Massapequa (/ˌmæsəˈpiːkwə/) is a hamlet (in Long Island talk, but it would be called a city in most other places) in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York. It is considered the anchor community of the Greater Massapequa area. The population was 21,355 at the time of the 2020 census. The Greater Massapequa area, includes nearby North Massapequa and East Massapequa, as well as the incorporated village of Massapequa Park, and has a combined population of over 75,000.

Massapequa is known for some of its popular attractions, which include: Tobay Beach, accessible near Jones Beach, offering prime ocean-side lounging and water activities; Massapequa Preserve, a sprawling 432-acre park featuring a serene stream, miles of hiking and biking trails, and fishing spots; and the Sunrise Mall, which was a big shopping mall located in East Massapequa, New York. The mall opened on August 30, 1973, as the first two-level shopping mall on Long Island. The interior closed in 2023 and the final anchor store closed on April 4, 2026.

The climate here is classified as hot-summer humid continental (Dfa) which borders upon a humid subtropical climate (Cfa) on the coast. Average monthly temperatures in the central part of town range from 31.4 °F (-0°C) in January to 74.3 °F (23.5°C) in July.
