RE: Stones performance

Maybe the weed I smoked was just too good that day. I loved the show they did! But I don't recall anybody here saying it was bad, how come now when looking back do some not recall liking it? Still, it seemed real, the Two didn't seem real at all.

Funny you mention that as I had friends over when the Stones performed in 2006. My one friend thought it was a good performance.... at least that night. This is a guy that has seen them live a number of times including only week's before at their last MSG show.... but was claiming it was a bad performance the next day. The only thing that really changed was that he started listening to other peoples opinion on the performance the next day and that week. I basically told him that he was clearly allowing other people to influence his views given the fact he sat at my place, listen to it on my system and thought it was really good.

Unfortunetely too many people allow this to happen or they formulate their long term views based on what is discussed in the days that follow. It turns out my same friend was over my place this year. We both thought that The Who did a decent job. What is interesting is we then watched the Stones performance from a few years back. My buddy even made the comment that Mick was definitely delivering a better performance then Roger. We also talked about the fact that the Stones played three full songs and not a medley noting the fact that one song was brand new.... and that never goes over well with the casual fans. Casual fans don't care about any of these guys new stuff.... they only want to hear stuff they know well.

Bottom line the Stones did show some guts playing live and doing a new tune in their set. They could have definitely taken the easy way out pre-recording the performance and only sticking to well known classics. They didn't but that doesn't really mean much with the casual fans.
