: : I want to know, once and for all, why the hell do the 60's albums have such bad sound quality, and I'm even talking about the re-masters. Ok, yeah, they didn't have everything they have now in studios, but Geez oh man, The Beatles had EXCELLENT sound quality. Why the hell didn't the Stones learn from them? Example: on Stones albums, the drums sound is soooo shitty, and the guitars sound like their being played through a broken amp. someone tell me the answer, please, because I'm here going What the Fuck????

: The Stones recorded in the red. That is why the guitar sounds distorted. It was intentional. A punk band 20 years early. Crank it up it sounds better.

The Stones were recorded by a fool, Andrew Loog Oldham, that's the real reason. They didn't have an honest to god producer until BB w/Miller.
