: I want to know, once and for all, why the hell do the 60's albums have such bad sound quality, and I'm even talking about the re-masters. Ok, yeah, they didn't have everything they have now in studios, but Geez oh man, The Beatles had EXCELLENT sound quality. Why the hell didn't the Stones learn from them? Example: on Stones albums, the drums sound is soooo shitty, and the guitars sound like their being played through a broken amp. someone tell me the answer, please, because I'm here going What the Fuck????

The Stones recorded in the red. That is why the guitar sounds distorted. It was intentional. A punk band 20 years early. Crank it up it sounds better.
