: I want to know, once and for all, why the hell do the 60's albums have such bad sound quality, and I'm even talking about the re-masters. Ok, yeah, they didn't have everything they have now in studios, but Geez oh man, The Beatles had EXCELLENT sound quality. Why the hell didn't the Stones learn from them? Example: on Stones albums, the drums sound is soooo shitty, and the guitars sound like their being played through a broken amp. someone tell me the answer, please, because I'm here going What the Fuck????

dude, its not the basic quality that's bad. The problem is the transfer to CD. The original vinyl versions are absolutly blinding - raw & violent. I think the people responsible for handling the back catalogue have no respect for what they are dealing with. The CD's could sound just as good as the Beatles if enough care was taken. Doesn't seem as tho anyone at abko really gives a shit.
