: I agree with you on Monkey Man. It is hard to say "better" but "different" definately. Keith often says he "builds" songs for the road- for instance, the whole album of "Dirty Work". Too bad that one didn't fly. I think those songs would have been made better by some live performances. I thin "Winning Ugly" would be viewed totally different if they had toured....

: Bt the way, Save Mick Taylor!

: : : Many Stones songs are incredible in live version. However, I believe there are two songs for which
: : : the studio version is far superior to any live
: : : performance. These are Monkey Man and Gimme Shelter.
: : : You might stretch Wild Horses to a third one. Any
: : : comments?

: : And one more which is a zillion times better in the studio version is Beast of Burden.

The FCC stepped in and prohibited the Stones from performing Dirty Work live. The Feds were concerned about what kind of an effect such shitty music would have on the entire world's population. Apparently, many hospitals felt they could not handle the overload of traumatized patients so severely affected by even a listen to complete trash like DW.
