This is indeed a really interesting and well-written post. Thanks! I can just hear Muddy or some other blues guitarist (and perhaps a harpist, too) playing in the background as the poetry is read--sort of like Jack Kerouac read his poetry to jazz in the 50s.

Incidentally, since you've been out of town, you may have missed the official word from Skippy over at the SFJ: The Stones will release a studio album sometime before the end of this year to fulfill their contractual requirements to Virgin. This means there won't be a release of studio leftovers in June after all, but instead what looks likely to be a mixture of old and new songs assembled and released after the tour ends in July.

Then, Skippy says, the band will take time off and tour again in 2001. He assures us that no one in the band is tired of touring, not even Charlie, and that plans for the 2001 tour are already being made.

So barring illness and all that, there's reason to be optimistic this *won't* have been your last show.
