This is from Page 287 of It's Only Rock 'n' Roll by James Karnbach and Carol Bernson : The name comes from Mick and Keith's adventures aboard a cruise ship bound for South America in December of 1968. Following the filming of Rock and Roll Circus BBC TV special, they, together with Anita Pallenberg and Marianne Faithfull decided to vacation in style with a Lisbon to Rio cruise. An older woman passenger who, like Mick and Keith, spent most of the voyage in the bar, kept asking them "who they were". Increasingly frustrated with their not answering, she begged them to "give us a glimmer" of their identities. Later, JIMMY
