I guess the debate will never be settled between the Beatles and the Stones. But there is another way to look at it. They were great for each other. For those of us old enough to have been there during the 60's (and are not too fried to remember) the competition between the 2 bands was heated. And the public got the benefit of hearing great music. And although they were competitive they all respected each other's talent. To claim who was better is always going to be a matter of taste. I prefer the Stones hands down because of their blues and straight ahead rock. The Beatles, however, have to be acknowledged as an original driving force, particularly Lennon and McCartney. If it wasn't for their song writing abilities Andrew might never of locked up Mick and Keith forcing them to write also. I can't imagine a world without all the classic Jagger Richards compositions. (Of course with their talent it was probably only a matter of time until they began to write anyway.)...In the end, each band benefited by having the other group as it equal. They will each go down in history for their unmatched accomplishments.
