That is quite gorgeous description of '81. Just GORgeous. Because this was when the weaving was a-threading, of a truth!

Do they feel the push to play like that agin, sans too many singers&horns?

I don't know if we'll have the chance to find out.(ugh! the prophetess of doom!)
