It reached #3 in America,but it got to #1 in the UK.
The problem with the UK charts up until about 20 years ago was that there wasnt ONE definitive chart,so sometimes you might get songs/albums reaching #1 on one chart (run by a magazine for example) but not on the more widely acceptable charts..'Brown sugar' reached #1 on some charts for example,whereas on most it only reached #2.
Since the likes of Gallup took over some years ago,theres only been one chart
