Because Andrew Loog Oldham was in or was still wanting to get into Mick's trousers and he felt Keith was more hetero, and Mick and Brian had already been rumoured to have had an affair at that point.

Well, why the hell does he still tour? He repeatedly says he hates being on the road and that after every tour he wants to quit the band. He obviously doesn't need the money, and if Wyman can quit, what keeps Charlie on the road?
Because he obviously really does like touring deep down.
