This is an interesting debate and allow me to add my $0.02

I also don't agree that Exhile is the best Stones album and actually...it is quite far down my list. I think my favorite is Sticky Fingers. I don't agree that the songs FLOW together well at all. Let it Bleed has the star in that catagory. I am a Mick Taylor fan so YES SF is nirvana for us and I believe there are a lot of us. I also think that Some Girls is better then Exhile. Ron Wood is no Mick Taylor, but his guitar meshes so well with Keith on that album. The guitar work on Beast of Burden is amazing. You can really tell how shitty Ron Wood is when they play live...his solos are laughably bad and THAT is truly where they miss Mick Taylor. (I'm off track a bit...sorry).

I have only recently begun to appreciate Exhile, but I still prefer Some Girls, LIB, BB, IORR, SF, and GHS to Exhile. I think the love fest about that album is somewhat exaggerated and I feel the reason is that the TOUR off that album is one of the best in Rock history EVER!

Also a note: whomever it was that decided to slam Ringo Starr, give me a large break...Charlie Watts and Ringo had the same thing going for them, they were both solid as hell drummers, not flashy, just solid. I do not believe that was fair...people like Keith Moon and slobber all over his drumming...I personally would take a Charlie or Ringo over Keith any day...he couldn't keep time to anything. I also prefer Ringo to Charlie...sorry.
